Mount KARAVA (Hull no. SH 1158) has been successfully launched at 10:45 on the 20TH November by Saiki Heavy Industries in Japan, on account of Donnelly Tanker Management Ltd. Mrs. Geni Soncini , the wife of Mr. Giampiero Soncini had the honor to christen the ship and cut the final line during the successful launching and christening ceremony. The launching of Mount Karava marked the 100th launching of a newbuilding at Saiki Heavy Industries since it was taken over by Onomichi Dockyard in 1988.
The launching was followed by the keel laying of the Mount Victoria. The keel laying ceremony was performed by ‘veteran’ shipyard supervisor Capt Alexander Zilian.
Prior to the ensuing Launching Celebration at the Kinsui-en Hotel, Capt Adami signed the 100th Newbuilding Contract for Intership ! In fact, three contracts were signed (number 99, 100 and 101) between Saiki, Onomichi and Intership for three more 32,000 mt dwat open hatch box shaped bulk carriers
With three valid reasons for a party, the ‘sake’ was flowing freely . At the party Mr. Masaki Mitani, Senior Managing Director of Onomichi Dockyard held the opening speech and toast. This was followed by speech and toast by Mr. Eugen H. Adami, Managing Director of Intership Navigation.
