At 19:50hrs on 18th March 2016, MV Hafnia Asia received a distress call from MV Selvamatha off the West coast of India. 

MV Selvamatha was sinking with 8 crew onboard.   MV Hafnia Asia arrived at the position and began Search and Rescue operations, rescuing all 8 passengers of the sunken Selvamatha from the sea.
The shaken but thankful survivors were provided with warm blankets and a hot beverage until an Indian Coast Guard’s ship arrived to transport the crew back to dry land.
