MARITIME CYPRUS CONFERENCE

The “Maritime Cyprus 2007” Conference was organised between the 24th and 26th September 2007, at the Evagoras Lanitis Centre, in Limassol. The Conference had “Stay Tuned: … Shipping New Image” as a main theme and analysed issues related to the New Image of Shipping, Recruitment, Training and Retaining of Seafarers and Shipowners´ Mission and Vision. Approximately 750 people from more than 35 countries around the world attended the Conference this year.

30 speeches/panel discussions were given during the Conference from distinguished personalities and high caliber speakers, including Adm. Efthymios Mitropoulos, IMO Secretary General and Mr. Jacques Barrot, Vice-President of the European Commission and Transport Commissioner.
In the attempt of attracting young people to Shipping an event specifically addressed to the young executives of the Shipping Industry was held. The aim of hosting the “Maritime Cyprus Young Executives” Session is to provide the young maritime executives with the opportunity to discuss and analyse current issues affecting International Shipping from their own perspective and experience, free of more senior colleagues.
