The ancient site of Amathus  played host to ISN's 20th anniversary celebrations in conjunction with the Cyprus Maritime conference and the international guest list of some 300 persons included dignatories, business associates (from as far afield as Canada, China, Japan, USA, the Philippines and Jamaica)  and ISN staff members. Both local and overseas visitors were equally enthralled by the ambient surroundings emanating a sense of culture and history as was the continuing theme of the evening. This was further enhanced by the antiquities, ancient costumes modelled by the Amathus catering team, who, true to their usual high standards, presented an excellent buffet and in keeping of the event theme a whole spit roasted suckling pig was carried aloft. The attention to detail was evident from the link in Capt Adami's welcome and introductory speech which included an interesting account of local ancient history and, in particular, the revelation that the actual event site was once renowned for hunting wild boar.

During the course of the evening a suitably attired maiden introduced  the speeches of H.E. Mr. Nicos Nicolaides (Republic of Cyprus, Minister of Communication and Works) responsible for authorising the use of the precious Amathus site for the celebratory event , Mr. Alfred Hartmann (Proprietor  and Shipowner) who jointly outlined the conception of ISN and saluted the initial ISN Management team which, 20 years later, retain their invaluable role and Mr. Torsten Schramm (COO & Executive Vice-President of Germanischer Lloyd) who presented Capt Adami, on behalf of ISN & Athena Marine, with the prestigious "GL Excellence 5 Stars Award".

The course of the evening's events under a beautiful clear night-sky on a balmy Cyprus evening were subtlety interceded by themed entertainment which included elegant dancers encased in most unusual and quite fascinating delicate opaque fabricated spheres and an exciting display of fire-dancing and fire-eating which were both accompanied by atmospheric and accomplished music and lighting, again such was the theme of the occasion and much to the delight of the guests.

The final and quite delightful surprise of the evening was the presentation of  "The Intership Navigation Collection - A Life Journey Through Art" by the renowned local artist Spyros Demetriades to all guests as they departed on their return to the reality of the 21st century, in commemoration of  ISN 20th anniversary.

Thanks must be expressed to all those unspoken heroes who were responsible for the relentless planning and organisation of the evening's events which were exceptional in their execution not forgetting those that participated albeit guests, entertainers, caterers, and technicians.
