Metro Manila has been declared a disaster area due to heavy floods brought about heavy rains during the morning of Saturday 26 Sept. It became a virtual lake with some areas as deep as up to 3 meters.

The whole city was under water on Saturday but with less rain, floods have subsided and many stranded people started going home by Sunday morning.

On Sunday 27 October at 1700hrs Marikina valley and Cainta continue to be under deep water. Other low areas still have floods particularly Pasig and Paranaque.

Except for flooded areas electricity is slowly being restored. However, sms and voice calls through mobiles and landlines are difficult, especially to areas north and east of Manila (Caloocan, Quezon City, Pasig). Globe mobiles was heavily affected but hopefully repairs can restore most of the service by Monday.

The ASM Family Center has arranged a help desk to try to contact and locate the families and relatives of our seafarers and assist them in any ways possible.

Intership Navigation will again provide the usual assistance it has always extended during a crisis situatio
