UBC Savannah in Mexico - Update

10 Sep 2019 - by Intership Navigation

The first hearing for the three polish seafarers was held in Mexico on 5th September, during which the chief officer and fitter were found ‘not guilty’ and were released immediately. The two are now on their way to Mexico City, from where they will fly home.

Unfortunately the master was kept in custody for further investigation, which the judge ruled must be completed within five months. The ruling to keep the master in custody is wrong, and will be appealed by us.

We expect that the hearing of the Philippine seafarers will be held next week – the hearings were separated due to the fact that the translators were not available on the same day.

Further updates will be posted as the situation develops.
